
24 Jun ACC Announces Winners of the 2022 ACC GO GREEN Contest
ACC has organized a creative invention contest using waste or leftover materials, as part of the ACC GO GREEN Network: Protect. Preserve. The Environment, 1st edition in 2022. The objective is to build a network of participation and to encourage the use of leftover materials and waste to reduce the amount of garbage in the environment at the youth level.
Recently, Mr. Tayuti Srirungroj, Managing Director of Asian Chemical Co., Ltd. (ACC), presided over the creative invention contest using waste or leftover materials. The ACC GO GREEN Network: Protect. Preserve. The Environment, 1st edition in 2022, was held for junior high school students. The purpose of this event was to campaign for the valuable and efficient use of resources, help reduce the amount of waste in the environment, promote creativity among youth, and encourage the use of waste or leftover materials to create new devices and equipment that can be reused for valuable benefit. There were a total of 9 teams from 5 schools in the Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province, that participated in the contest. The judging committee for this contest consisted of: 1. Ms. Arporn Thibbadee, Director of the Wellgrow Industrial Estate Office, 2. Ms. Dussadee Kotchasing, Environmental Officer, Chachoengsao Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office, and 3. Ms. Pilaiporn Ladawan Na Ayutthaya, Assistant Managing Director of the Academic Division, Asian Chemical Co., Ltd.
The winning team of the contest, for their invention of a lamp from plastic bottle caps, was from Wat Bang Saem School. They received a prize of 20,000 baht. The runner-up prize, for an invention of a multi-purpose bag from leftover plastic, was from Wat Bang Wua School, and they also received 20,000 baht. There were also 3 honorable mention prizes, valued at 2,000 baht, from Wat Bang Wua School, Saema Khao Wittayakhan School, and Wat Bang Saem School. Wat Bang Kluea School and Wat Pimpa Was School received souvenirs.
The event was considered a great success because it created a network of participation from various sectors and instilled an environmental consciousness in Thai youth. By using waste or leftover materials to create useful devices and equipment, the event promotes valuable reuse, reduces the amount of waste in the community and society, and can be expanded to develop inventions for daily use and even for future careers.
